A Fear of Failure

a fear of failure

Do you have a fear of failure?

Are there things you will not attempt because you know you will fail?

So many people come to a point in their life when they realize that they have allowed fear of failing to keep them stagnant in life. They're wanting a better life, yet fearful of moving forward.

Fear becomes a way of living constantly chattering away in the mind. Always there, feeding the mind full of negatives, of what might be....but not "is."

Isn't is amazing that fear of failing can control us....yet it is not even real? Because the truth is, you will not move forward and have an abundant life when you have a fear of failing! Why? Because you will not align with your greatness!

How To Get Past Fear of Failure

Recognize that you do have a fear of failure. Take a look at your life. When did you hold yourself back because of fear? When did you take a different path then you wanted to because of your fear?

Making the decision that fear will not stop you. It starts with a decision. You must decide that you will not allow fear to hold you back.

One of life's biggest failures is when one doesn't realize how close they were to success when they decided to quit.

I work with people that choose to start their own business and they approach it with a "what if I fail" attitude. Well, guess what they always get....failure. Yes, because they planned it.

In Napoleon Hill's book, Think and Grow Rich, he tells the story of a gold miner that had found some gold and then quit when he couldn't find anymore. He sold the equipment for a few hundred dollars to a junk man. The man knew that gold ran in veins and started digging toward a vein. He found a vein of gold 3 feet from the last failed attempt.

In that story, we don't really know why the man gave up. Fear of failure in finding the gold, especially since his family and friends helped fund the digging at the gold mine.

"Failure is the tuition you pay for success."
Walter Brunell

How often do we do that? Find something we are really excited about and share it with our family and friends, only to have someone shot down our excitement?

I remember when I was leaving for college, I ran into one of my high school teachers. He asked me what I would be studying at school and I told him I was going to be a teacher and he said, "Why in the world would you want to be a teacher?" Now, this was one of my teachers the previous school year!

Move forward past fear. There will always be naysayers. Following your passion will require you taking a stand for yourself and your dream and not allowing the naysayers to fill your head will fear and doubt. Fear will steal your dream. It will cripple you moving forward toward your goals.

Today is the day you can stare down your fear and move forward!Acknowledge your fear and then make a conscious effort to move toward your goal.

fear of failure Get out of your head. Lead with your heart. Instead of having the monkey chatter of negatives fill your head with doubt and fear. Stop yourself! Remind yourself of your why. Your "why" is why you are doing what you are doing. Is it a passion to be at home with your kids? Is it to provide a great lifestyle for your family? Remember your why. Stay away from the worries, the doubt, the fear and remember your why. This is the passion to drive you toward your goals.

Write down your fears. It's funny, sometimes when you see something in writing, it seems small....the all consuming thought that fills your head! Write it down and get rid of it. Cross out your fears. I personally find that whenever I write down a fear, I am able to let it go. It doesn't fill my thoughts, I am done with it.
