Are You Living In The Present?
Are you living in the present? Right now in this moment? Or are you living in the past?
Are you still reliving a painful memory over and over? So many people get stuck in their past because they can't
let it go.
The past controls and guides their life. In Eckhart Tolle's book, A New Earth, he talks about how people will have a traumatic experience or even a painful memory that happened years ago.
The horrible experience in actual time only lasted possibly a few minutes or so, but people will relive the event or moment over and over again. They relive it in their memory, playing the scenes in their head repeatedly.
They recall the conversations or comments that hurt them. They share the story and experience with friends, families, support groups reliving the pain again.
The lightbulb moment for me was when he said that even though the painful experience only lasted for a brief time in actual minutes, we will recount and relive it again and again in our minds.
Each time feeling the fear, anger, sadness, pain, humiliation, shame again.
We are able to move forward and choosing living in the present.
It is a choice. Choice well.
So, how can you move from the past to living in the present?
Start with gratitude.
A magificent energy is created with gratitude. When you begin to focus on what you have right now, looking at the
glass half full
will change the world all around you. The world is not really changing, you are! Below is a gratitude list, I encourage you to start today with notice the wonderful things in your life.
Here's my list today:
~~Coffee time on our veranda with my husband watching the deer and squirrels
~~Coloring with my daughter
~~Family walk
~~Appreciation of being at home everyday, working from home
~~Assisting others with Law of Attraction
~~Reconnected with a college buddy
~~Favorite, homemade veggie pizza
~~Hanging out with my daughter after supper
~~Quiet, visualization time
~~Inspired by watching my kids getting along and loving each other
Visualization
is a great way to create your life the way you want it. To see the mental movie where you direct how your life looks. Take some quiet time to ask yourself, "What is my ideal life?"
The Law of Attraction
says that whatever you focus your energy and attention on, you will attract more of the same, whether wanted or unwanted. When you focus on great things in your life, you attract great things, people, circumstances and events to you.
Take one week and focus on the smallest of good things in your life. Living in the present means living in the now, look around you....what good things have you attracted today?
