What Is Visualization?

What Is Visualization?

What is visualization? You often hear someone refer to visualizing when talking about achieving a goal. "I just visualized it." But what is visualization?

Visualization is the mental mind movie that you play. It is a focused daydream.

Visualization is a very powerful tool in creating. Utilize a vision board to assist you in creating what you want.

Have you ever had the experience of seeing something in a magazine, store flyer or on your vision board such as a sweater and you started to picture yourself wearing it?

How you would feel wearing it, where you would go, who you would see and their comments about your new sweater.....well, you get the idea...this is visualization! This is the mental movie I talked about earlier.

Yes, it is powerful to use visualization in goal setting. You can create through picturing yourself already in possession of your goal. It starts with who you are being. Check out the Be Do Have principle.

3 Top Tips of Visualization

1. Visualization is a pleasurable activity. It is not a "have to" activity. Anytime it feels forced, you will not be in creative energy.

2. Allow visualization in a quiet space. I love to visualize before I get out of bed in the morning. For me, this is a quiet space before my kids get up and all that involves in family life.

Note: It doesn't always have to be quiet. I also understand the benefits of visualization while listening to music. Music is a powerful trigger! Use it to your advantage.

3. Be consistent! Just like anything, the more consistent you are with your visualizations, the greater the results. Here is more information on visualization techniques.

With visualization you can dream as big or little as you want.

You can always change your visualization! Also, it is very powerful to create your visualization including friends of family in it.

Remember this is a mind movie, a focused daydream that is moving, it is not a still picture.

Picture the movement, the words or actions someone else would say to you and how you would respond! Remember you create what you want here.

You have a creative license to create as you really want.

The next question is......do you really know what you want? Because you create your own reality.
